A year or so ago, the L.A. Times ran an article about Chinese truffles. The bottom line was that they didn't have the punch of French black truffles but were only a fraction of the cost.
The article went on to say that they were seasonally available at Whole Foods Markets.
When I went to Whole Foods they said they had to be specially ordered and then they later told me that they weren't available.
Does anyone have any experience with these and, if so, when and where are they available here in town?
