Chinese on the Peninsula?

Melanie Wong | Mar 12, 2009 11:10 PM

An emailed request from a shy ‘hound:

“I'd like to go to a really good Chinese joint in or near Belmont.
Something interesting.

I've lived everywhere in the Bay Area, except the Peninsula, so it is
always a challenge.

I know, you'll know. :--)”

So I thought I’d post this here to open it up for everyone’s suggestions. Please weigh in.

I’ve been to two Chinese restos in Belmont and neither is that special. If you’re coming from SF, I’d steer you to something non-Cantonese and a little further north on the Peninsula.

In Foster City, Joy is a favorite for Taiwanese. I haven’t been since the remodel, but reports are that it is as good as ever in nicer digs. It’s a little hard to find, so make sure you have clear directions (click on the Places link for a google map).

Then San Mateo has some very good Chinese restaurants, listed below. Check the Places records for linked reports and more information.
