Chinatown had a couple of highly attended Grand Openings this weekend. The first was actually a Grand Reopening of Little Paris's flagship store, relocated to 1131 Stockton St. after being displaced from the future Chinatown subway station site. Layout is similar to before, with takeout "bento boxes" on the counter to the right as you walk in the door, and tables in the rear. Good to have my local banh mi spot back.
The space at 732 Jackson St., once occupied by the late, lamented (for its big chicken buns) Yong Kee Rice Noodle Company now hosts a glitzy new Hong Kong-style bakery cafe, Wong Lee (Wang Li) featuring dim sum, pastries and Boba drinks. New ownership, but for the record it does have a Big Bun on the menu -- let's hope it's a legacy passed down from Wong Lee's predecessor establishment.
