Chicken Soup: Help me help you

The rain is about to start and it isn't going to stop for a while. You will catch a cold and then, just as it seems you've recovered, you'll catch a new cold. You'll travel home wet and irritable, cursing at the people who block the BART turnstile without having their passes out.

You know what could really help us out?

Some chicken soup.

That's right: some warm, soothing, chickeny deliciousness. Where do you find a bowl of chicken soup to lift your spirits on a nasty day?

My top picks...

Turtle Tower. Get the pho ga, which is served with cilantro, green onions, and toothsome noodles in a light but flavorful broth. When I have a nagging cold, this is my go-to bowl of chicken noodle soup.

El Delfin. A few weeks ago I fell in love, and his name was caldo de pollo. A rich, hearty broth served with hunks of vegetables and chicken on the bone.

Yummy Yummy. Order the bun cari ga, a robust chicken curry noodle soup served with bits of fried potato floating in the broth. Ask for egg noodles instead of the vermicelli that comes standard but is too limp for this bowl of goodness.
