Chez Papa serves Lunch- a bit of France on Potrero Hill

While interested in late lunch, last week---found ourselves on Potrero Hill in front of Chez Papa at about 2:25 pm. While restaurant is usually booked and crazy during dinner hours---delightful for late lunch!! Although posted lunch hour ends at 2:30--despite late hour, we were warmly greeted and allowed to enjoy and savor a leisurely lunch surrounded by everything gallic. Almost like being there! Cute French waiters, friendly local neighbors and others speaking french and generally just hanging out. Very good french baquette, butter at room temp. Our beet salad -$7 enough to share, delicious with feta and terrific olive oil. Frites with aioli-$4 [a must], Marseilles-style mussels in a tomato-garlic broth ($8), and a glass of sancerre $8, followed by Illy coffee $3 and a perfect tarte tatin- $6, completed the repast. A FIND for mid-day daliances!
