Stopped by at Chef Marilyn's a while ago on recc's from the board, and grabbed some fried chicken, fried catfish, and various sides to go. Ate it while waiting in line to get tickets to see Body Worlds 1 in its final week. (Friend Jenn: "Whatever you do, when you're in that exhibit, don't think about proscuitto.")
It's damn tasty and cheaper 'n hell. Fried chicken was tasty, though had been fried a while ago. Fried catfish was fresh fried and great - moist and sweet as hell, with a very nice, grainy, crunchy cornmeal.
Candied yams were niiiiiiice.
It think most dishes there are $1 a serving. A few are $2. Fried meats are ordered by the piece. It's cheap.
