I travel to Charlotte four or five times a year on business, and often play host for group dinners (anywhere from five to twenty people; this trip the group will be on the small side). I'm headed there again next week, and I'm just getting a little bored with the same places...so anything new and interesting?
I like Mimosa Grill's Sunday night specials, and will probably do that again this trip. They work well for a group that is trying to treat its guests well and yet not spend huge amounts of money...at least not at every meal (One "special" meal per trip is fine).....I also have enjoyed Ratcliffe on the Green a lot, but the last two times I've eaten there the service has been less than stellar...one time it was so bad that my friend asked me "Why did you choose this place, anyway?" argghhh....(btw, both times the restaurant seemed very understaffed; I see this as a sign of the times...I understand that Charlotte has been hit hard by the banking crisis...and no, I'm not in banking....).
So, any ideas for something new and/or different? Walking distance from Trade and Tryon is a huge plus. I'm looking for nice places that will cater to a variety of tastes (including possibly vegetarian), with good wine lists and prices that aren't over the top....
