Chambre and/or table d'hote in Austria Countryside worth the detour?

Hi Austria Hounds,

We will be traveling for a week in mid September, and really enjoyed reading many great threads on Vienna and vicinity. I have to say that Austria/Vienna sub-board is by far one of more quality driven and informative. Here's what we are looking for.

Most of our memorable dining experiences are from chef/owner-driven "smaller" places with food that warm our hearts; from our travels abroad in small villages to husband/wife/family teamed tables whose food is filled with soul. Most of them are not starred places or necessarily fancy, they deliver with concise - sometimes no choice -seasonal menu handled by caring cooks who source the product locally if not from the back yard. It is these places where we find soul-comforting meals with memories that outlast most starred/famed restaurants.

Any place that fits the description?

It does not have to be in the countryside necessarily, but it is here that we most often encounter these heart-warming places. We will have a car. Many thanks in advance.
