Challenge: Who in L.A. has the Best Thai Food? (A bit long)

For those of you of a certain age, back in the late '70s/early '80s there was an upscale Thai restaurant called Maneeya on Ventura Blvd. near Vineland in Studio City - it had a purple sign. That was the best I've ever eaten, they could do wonders with the pedestrian yum yai salad - anybody remember it? We used to also love Chao Praya in Hollywood back then, especially for their BBQ chicken, and also Siamese Garden in Marina del Rey for many years, but it seems most Thai restaurants either don't survive, sustain the quality, or only serve the usual hum ho fare. I've eaten at Lotus of Siam in Vegas (purported by many to be the best in the U.S.) and really like it, but can't believe there isn't something better in our own backyard. We now live in South Bay, but would be willing to travel for the best of the best. Please include menu recommendations as well, especially if the restaurant is in Thai town. Thanks much!
