Monday thru Friday in Cayucos and other local spots.

Monday night, dinner at Bob & Carol's Sea Shanty. Food is adequate, OK, not great, not bad either. A good bit better than short-order cook, not plastic like a chain, not upscale. However, desserts are awesome, at least in size. However, we had o'berry cobbler a la mode twice and it was just great. Tart and homey. Recommended. Clam chowder was very good buta bit salty. Entrees were not anything to rave about but veggies were fresh and not overcooked.

Cayucos Beach Inn is one of the great, pet-friendly places on earth. Four *

Tuesday lunch. Morro Bay, Bayside Cafe at the marina in the state park. Very nice lunch place, I had fried clams which were in a heavy breading but the tartar sauce was fine. SMS had fresh salmon tacos and they were outstanding. Fresh salmon in a spicy breading with a host of chopped lettuce, onion, etc. in two blistered tortillas with a spicy aioli and (canned) tomatoe salsa. Both sauces were good and lunch was fine, service warm, atmosphere harbor and sailboats - delightful.

Tuesday night back to Sea Shanty, bowl of too-salty but good chowder followed by more o'berry cobbler. Just as good as the first time.

Wedensday lunch at Linn's Bakery in Cambria. Soup and half sandwich for each worked OK. I had clam chowder with no identifiable clams but good flavor and texture. Vegetarian sandwich was on great homemade whole wheat and everything on it was fresh and flavorful. SMS did pumpkin soup (too much like pie) and chicken waldorf sandwich on roll. Very good.

Dinner at Sow's Ear in Cambria. SMS had country fried steak, buttermilk mashed and I did catfish with pecan/honey crust. The steak was FINE! Catfish a bit overdone in concept and a good bit overdone on the fire. Salads were super fresh and delicious. Wine list is just amazing. Service close to perfect. Great evening.

Thursday had lunch at the smoked fish place in Cayucos. Split the smoked albacore taco and found the albacore very smokey, veggies fresh but the pile was so high it was a cut and eat taco.

Dinner at Hoppe's in Cayucos. Great. Highly recommended.
