Have C.Chu's book but still need recs.for Saturday night in Monterey Park

I’m going with 8 friends out to dinner in Monterey Park/Rosemead on Saturday night. I want to try some place new, but I also want to try to please everyone--Nothing as far out as PHONG DINH--but I love that place.
I’d like to try the places everyone seems to be raving about, GREEN VILLAGE or LAKE SPRING. But not everyone “loves” pork and Lamb. Also CHINA ISLAMIC RESTAURANT is very popular. Are these good choices?
In the lead for me right now is YUNAN GARDEN (Hua’s Garden). Their airpot chicken sounds interesting and delicious. I’ve been reading about it in C. Chu’s FINDING CHINESE IN LA book.
What I’m looking for is restaurant that is new to me, and a favorite of yours. Suitable for a larger sized group, with dishes easily shared, like QUANJUDE used to be.

For dessert were definitely going to Phoenix Café for fresh mango mochi and durian ice cream. I love this place and it’s been awhile.
