Casa del Sol

We dropped into Casa del Sol yesterday afternoon for a
nosh. They've added some interesting new dishes to the
menu, continuing to expand their pan-Latin American
scope. For those who haven't been there: They have a
core, basic Mexacoid menu, but they rise above the
ordinary with a list of very interesting,
apparently-authentic dishes from Peru, Brazil, etc.

We had two appetizers. The plantain fritters were
uninspiring, though pleasant enough as munchies. If
they put a shrimp in the middle or a slice of highly
marinated beef, it would be a more interesting dish.

The other dish was more successful: A poblano relleno,
lightly breaded with corn meal (and no egg!) and
stuffed with chicken, cheese, and other goodies. Very
good, very hot, and served on a bed of black beans and
tomatos.

There were several other new dishes on the menu that
looked worth trying, and they are marked with a
sunburst.
