I hope this isn't sacreligious, but was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions for low- or reduced-carb chow? I've just started the South Beach Diet -- I know, how glamorous ;) -- and for the next 10 days or so, (today is day 4) it means lots of lean meats, veggies & salads. After that it gets a little more flexible (whole grain bread & pasta, brown rice, etc.).
So, I haven't come up with a whole lot of good dining out options yet. Clearly the steakhouses are doable, and I can always get a chefs salad, greek salad, chicken caesar, or some other salad option almost wherever I go. I'm also thinking I can do Chinese or Thai if I don't order rice, though I'm sure there's a fair amount of cornstarch and/or sugar in many of the sauces, so it may be more of a splurge than a regular menu choice. I'm also thinking Shawarma or Kabobs over a salad plate are doable, maybe even Indian minus the rice. I'll definitely find a way to squeeze in some BBQ, but there's lots of sugar in the rub, the sauce, & the baked beans, so it'll have to be a splurge and not for another 10 days or so.
Any other ideas out there? And no, "screw the diet" doesn't count, I already came up with that one.
