Captain Larry's - a Baltimore gem!

After reading pleides' post on Captain Larry's back in December, I couldn't wait to go. It was WELL worth trip.

The crabcake (big lumps of crab, not dominated by filler) sandwich would have been a pretty good deal at $11 (market price daily), but was excellent at $5.50 for the half price Wednesday night special. For an extra buck, definitely substitute the house cut fries (skins on) for the potato chips. Served with the sandwich was tarter sauce and cocktail sauce (both house made) and the cocktail sauce had a great horseradish zip. The cook (Faith) came out and knew many of the 'regulars' at the bar. She told them if they were eating to get her home made mac & cheese as one of the side items. It made me wish I got the two crabcake platter (with two sides) but there's always another Wednesday.

Add to this the fact that ALL drinks ("even water, so choose wisely" says the menu) are $2 Mon-Fri from 5 til 8 (including the house special Dark & Stormy) and you've got a true treat near Ft. McHenry (E. Fort St at Jackson).

A big, good crabcake sandwich, fresh-cut fries and two Dark & Stormys(with premium Gosling's Bermuda rum) for under $11.00 is near impossible to beat.

Thanks,

K
