Capital District version of the Algonquin?

Just returned from a quick trip to the city and was reminded what I'd love to see in the Capital District. My wish list:

*A bar like the Algonquin with quiet elegance, cocktails, couches and delicious appetizers (perfect calamari, crab cakes, etc.).

*Fine dining and amazing desserts. Like the strawberry sorbet with pistachio crumble pre-dessert and passion fruit souffle at Falai.

Didn't get to Astoria for Greek food. Bought a few dozen Kossars bialys before heading to the train. The best bialys in our area (popular with Florida transplants as well) are Ray's New York Bagels What's a Bialy? found in Price Chopper's freezer section.

Any suggestions for a Capital Region version of the Algonquin? What's on your wish list?
