Went to Candelite Friday night. First time I have been since the renovation of space and menu.
Very impressed with beer selection. Had a Leffe Blonde Ale on tap, served in the Leffe goblet. Sublime!
Had the garlic fries as an appetizer. Very good! Real hot and crispy. Garlic flavor all over them. Really first rate.
One person had a burger. Was extremely greasy. Wouldnt really recommend the burger at all.
I split a sausage pizza with another person. It was very good. The crust was extremely thin and crispy, but still had a little yeast bubble action going, not quite like a cracker. Held up real well to the toppings, didnt fold over. Sausage was very tasty. The pizza was very light. Cut in squares, which was also nice.
Basically everything just held together nicely as one thing, as opposed to gloppy cheese slipping off too much sauce and a crust which didnt bond with the toppings as with so many other flat pizzas out there.
Looked like they had a lot of interesting options for pizza toppings including wild mushrooms, roasted vegetables, carmelized onions. Going to try some of these next time.
Lastly, the place was a tad smoky without much demarcation or ventilation between smoking and non. Having said that, it is pretty much a tavern, albeit a "family tavern". Tons of little kids there at 7:30 on a Friday night, which was a good thing, since I had kids as well.
