Cam Huong review

tku | Nov 7, 2004 11:20 PM

Just arrived back from a business seminar in Oakland. When we arrived sat morning, SO & I drove around the Marriott looking for a place to grab a bite. After parking, we just stumbled upon Cam Huong (I did not do my homework before going). We ordered beef pho, shrimp spring rolls and a combo plate to share. For our lunch we had them make us a pork banh mi and two chicken banh mi. We enjoyed all of the dishes. All of this and a can soda for $21. The sandwiches were big compared the few that I have tried in socal and were very tasty. The combo plate (pad thai, eggplant with tofu & BBQ pork) was a good size portion and also very good for $4.50. SO really liked the pho because it did not have a strong star anise flavor. A total bargain.
Since there is not a place like this close to where we live (santa monica), we had to come back sunday morning and get breakfast and lunch. SO had the seafood pho and I had the wonton pho. We also had one egg roll and one fried pork pocket and one chinese doughnut (I'm not sure what they call this). Our to go order consisted of one chicken banh mi and one bbq bacon (cha shu) banh mi. All this plus one can soda for $16.25. The cha shu bahn mi sure tasted good in the airport waiting for our plane.
A great family run business with fast friendly service. Next time we are in the area, we will definitely make it a point to stop by there.
