Calling for gulbi/jogi experts

To my astonishment, Korean gulbi is not discussed at all on the boards. Not as goolbi, goolbee or gulbee, either. A common sight in upscale Korean markets, packaged as expensive gifts. While some of these "fish on a rope" -yellow croakers and corvinas- are the cheap varieties, certain special (regional) varieties regularly sell for hundreds of dollars. I have not tasted these (seems like wasted money on such common sounding fish), but possibly gulbi experts out there could shed some light on the taste difference among the various grades. Why the extreme price difference?
