Sunday's lunch was a revisit to the Boat House in Bodega Bay. Even after 2pm, things were busy with a steady stream of customers. A new table would open up just when a new customer needed a place to sit.
Fresh but not local rock fish and the oysters were imported from Washington State. But I hit paydirt with the fresh Monterey Bay squid for my order of calamari and chips, $8.95.
The batter's lighter than used for the f&c, and I liked this even more. The body pieces were cut lengthwise, splitting the tubes instead of into rings. Tender, fresh and sweet, if a bit plain. But a shake of salt, a squeeze of lemon, and this was as good as any fried calamari out there.
