Caffe Casta Diva - almost perfection

As you might have gathered from my subject line we loved our meal at Caffe Casta Diva. It was our second visit and both times the experience was wonderful.

The ambience - this is a very small restaurant located in an old townhome. The nicely spaced tables have white linen table cloths and nice stemware. One minor negative is that they only have one size glass for wine. We would have liked our dessert wine in something smaller than a bordeaux glass. The dining room was full and bustling but relatively quiet.

It is BYO

They served warm bread, which seemed hommade,
with herbed oil.

For apps we shared, tomatoes and mozzerella salad, ricotta crepes and smoked salmon carpaccio with herbed goat cheese. All were excellent, the crepes were superb.

For entrees we had the duck breast with figs, ny strip with wild mushrooms in wine sauce and the veal chop. The quality and preparation was excellent. Another minor negative was that one of the steaks came basically covered with mushrooms and one had only a few. Everything came with roasted potatoes and asparagus.

For dessert we shared the tiramisu which came in a martini glass. It had kahula and rum soaked ladyfingers topped with a so light whipped marscapone. We also shared the chocolate espresso creme brulee.

All in all this was one of the nicest meals we have had in a while.

The total cost was $105 per couple including tip.
