cacio e pepe - mediocre at best

service was a bit sporadic. they were quick bringing our drinks, but everything else lagged for the rest of the evening. it took a good while for the bread to come. and when it did, half of it was on the stale side. you could tell between the two pieces they had that one was much fresher than the other.

my boyfriend and i decided to share everything. which turned out to be a good choice b/c no way in hell could i imagine finishing what we ordered. not because the portions were big, but after eating our dishes, we just got tired of it after a while. we started off with the eggplant parm appetizer. it was our favorite that night and the only thing we polished off even though we both agreed the sauce was overly sweet. then shared the spaghetti with guanciale and the veal scallops as entrees. the first couple bites of pasta were tasty, but soon after the amount of oil in this dish starts to hit you. the veal scallops were horrible. they tasted like pork sausages. fine, if i wanted pork sausages, but i didn't. felt that if i had some scrambled eggs and toast on the side it would've made for a nice breakfast i would get at the local diner.

i don't get all the positive reviews this place has been getting on this board...
