A while ago I posted a request for butters. After listening to reports, I tried a bunch of the locally available unsweetened butters. Results:
I remain firm on my favorite spreading butter being Danish Creamery. It has a light, soft, sweet buttery tang that goes beautifully over breads, muffins, etc.
I have, however, switched my cooking butter permanently to Plugra - cheap-as-grass (real grass, not "grass") at $2.50-ish at Trader Joe's. Plugra is a cleaner butter - insanely good for all the vegetable sautees, omelettes, whiskings-into-reductions. More of that bring-out-the-natural effect. It is, however, a little to clean, crisp, and blank for my tastes as a spreader.
