Went to Butter finally last night. Great space, wonderfully designed.
The staff was all very friendly from the coat check to the busboys.
Decent wine and beer list (all bottles).
$70 tasting menu seemed nice, but my wife would never go for it, so a la carte it is!
Started with the best goat cheese salad possibly ever. Lots of chess, brioche-type toasts, candied pecans, nice dressing. Also got the Kobe beef empanada - nice meat, flaky not greasy, nice salsa.
Wife had the roasted chicken (she loves chicken) - super moist, great flavor, with vanilla mashed potatoes. At first, it was a bit off-taking, but by the third bite, I was hooked. She didn't really like it and the waiter picked up on it, and gave her a side plate of plain mashed even after she declined the offer - points to the Aussie!
I had some of the best spice rubbed pork loin EVER. Lean and tasty with string thin fired potaotes and mustard greens cooked nicely. Also, chunks of pork belly crackings (like think bacon). It was ok, bit my thing, though.
For dessert, had some of the best pear, mango and strawberry over fruit sorbet I've ever had. So flavorful, it was amazing, and with the fruit...
Also had the freshly baked cookies and candy. Great assortment... 2 biscotti type cookies (with a little ginger, perhaps), 4 little cookies, jelly candies, brownies. Fresh baled, so it took a little while.
Apps were $9 (salad, I think) and $15, dinner was $19 (chicken) and $24 pork, and desserts were $9 each (maybe $10 for sorbet, dunno).
All told w/o tip was $122.
Excellent meal all around. Highly recommended.
