Someone was asking about this a few days ago so I thought I would write a quick report about the new Mill Valley restaurant.
Bungalow shows promise. I want to love it since I haven't loved a Mill Valley restaurant since Mudbugs left this very spot a year ago. (It was replaced by the short-lived Cascade Bar & Grill, which I didn't love at all.)
Back to Bungalow: Same lovely room, a little more formal feeling. Lots of people in suits. Wasn't as comfortable coming there with a child though they did have some children's offerings. The clam cake appetizer was tiny but quite tasty, and the onion rings (recommended by the waitress) disappeared instantly. Delicious. Halibut cheeks were good--I'd never had them before so I didn't have a benchmark but I'd order them again. Grilled liver, however, was tough and dry, exemplifying everything that people hate about the organ. Too bad. Liver can be so wonderful when treated right. The truffled french fries: delicious. Desserts: Good creme brulee, good ice cream sundae. Mediocre banana cream pie. Prices: fair for this area.
Upshot: I'll be going back.
