so i finally went last night after passing it a few times. 9pm on a tuesday night....with a 40-minute wait for a table. they were slammed. which i took to be a sign of good food to come.
my buddy and i both ordered the skirt steak. and thought it was a phenomenal value. it's a good-sized portion and a pretty thick cut for a skirt steak (maybe 3/4 or 1" thick). the steak had a great texture and really nice flavor. not much of a crust on it, but man, it was tasty. chimichurri sauce was good too, but i ended up not using much - as the steak was that good.
is it going to replace a steakhouse occasion for me? no. does it deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as any of NY's great temples of meat? nope. but i will definitely return anytime i'm dying for a good steak and don't want to travel out of my neighborhood. or pay too much - $15.95 for the steak!
oh, by the way, the fries are thick, homemade and delicious too. winelist was really affordably priced - $27 bought me an eminently drinkable malbec.
