I know that this place has been mentioned in a few other threads, but I'm curious to hear what other people have to say about it. I'd passed by a few times and not given it much thought, but after seeing the write-ups in both the Herald and the New Times Best of, I decided to give it a try. My girlfriend and I went last night and it was really wonderful. The menu is a large chalkboard on the wall, which had a few things crossed off by the time we got there around 9. I guess every article written about them has mentioned the rillete, so they were out of that. Perhaps the best thing we tried was the roasted salmon--moist inside with crisp skin brushed with a bit of pesto, served over mashed potatoes and ratatouille. I have to say that the fries that came with my steak trumped the steak itself. They were crisp, dark brown, and still very moist inside. The steak was cooked a bit past the medium rare that I asked for, but as I said, the fries more than made up for it. The gazpacho with a drizzle of pesto was also great, as was the green salad. Desserts of rice pudding and chocolate mousse were also winners. Everything came to just about $50. I also thought I saw a good looking tray of mussels go out, but I don't recall seeing that anywhere on the chalkboard. I'll have to ask about that next time. The interior of the place is bright yet still cozy. We definitely felt well-taken care of while we were there and we'll definitely be back. Someone else mentioned brunch there. Has anyone tried that? Also, does anyone know if the lunch menu is different as well? They get extra points for being open until midnight.
