My wife and I went to Buddakan last night. It was an interesting experience, to say the least.
Our table was upstairs in the trendy, well appointed restaurant. Unfortunately, it was also quite noisy. I felt the need to yell to be heard, but it was Saturday night so some noise was to expected.
On to dinner. I have a gluten allergy, and they have a nice menu which explains what I can have. I chose the crispy duck salad and the angry lobster. The duck was tasty, albeit fried and a bit heavy tasting. The lobster was also very rich. It was a 3LB lobster, out of the shell. The lobster itself was excellent. It came over mashed potatoes and a large helping of about 5 different vegtables. Carrots, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Peppers, Green Beans and perhaps a few more. The problem was it had just too much heavy cream, or something that just made it taste good for a moment, but made you feel ill afterwards.
My wife had a Crab and avocado salad, which was excellent. She also had Chicken with cashews, which suffered from similar problems to the Lobster. Too rich, too greasy, so while it tasted ok, she felt ill afterwards as well.
When the waiter offered us dessert, we couldn't even look at the menu, and we got out of there as quickly as we could.
The tab for this experience was $140 before tip, which also included 2 glasses of wine. We also valeted the car which set us back another $16
