BUCK'S in Woodside--Roadhouse food at its best! LOVE IT

Stopped by Buck's in Woodside yesterday to meet friends who had biked from SF (I drove and gave rides back). This is the first time I've tried this legendary meeting place for venture capitalists, horsey types, cyclists, and folks appreciative of great roadhouse food.
I LOVE THIS PLACE!!
First of all, it's popular, so expect a bit of a wait unless you get there as we did about 2:15. To start, the waitresses are ALL just wonderful, smiling,enthusiastic, charming, and best of all efficient and professional. It's been a very long time since we'd experienced this. The menu featured every breakfast idea you might crave and all variations (served until 2:30---and rather than being disappointed when you tried to order at 2:31---those great waitresses actually made a point of going around the room to give a cheery last call warning individually to tables yet to order, a few minutes before). The eclectic menu also features just about everything you would ever want to order for lunch from rustic to country club elegant. Mexican chicken mole tacos (even listing the 16 ingredients in the mole!) to fish and chips (your choice of salmon and/or cod); cobb salad; two versions of fab steak sandwich (either NY or filet mignon), burgers, club and blt sandwiches, etc. The drink of choice seems to be the "Arnold Palmer" which my friend informed me is a regular for the country club set (who knew and this in a funky roadhouse, albeit in a rather wealthy enclave) which is half iced tea and half lemonade. Anyway, hard decisions, one of those menus and views of passing dishes, each better than the next. We had tacos, NY steak sandwich, Cobb salads, fish and chips (cod only). Each item was prepared EXACTLY as ordered---again, a rarity, but then you know these amazing waitresses are used to their A type clientele being specific and expecting results! Had the Cobb salad which was huge (described on the menu as "hatsized") with a Southwest flair featuring bar b qued chicken breast, fresh, fresh tomato salsa, perfect iceberg lettuce pieces, Hobb's bacon and lots of it, cheese, and a simple vinagrette.---just delicious---could eat this everyday! Had a taste of the NY steak and it was as good as any steakhouse. The fine onion rings it sat on were delish and fries had that second crunch sensation that says france. We were unable to fit in dessert, but menu featured tempting peach cobbler, berry cobbler etc. pumpkin pie---again our dream dessert menu. We will be returning very soon (whether or not by bicycle) --such a happy discovery!
