After pawing through the list looking for a brunch recommendation my SO and I ended up going to Domus. To whoever made that recommendation, thank you! It had been a tough weekend and the food really helped to improve things.
I had the french toast which was served with an apple and cranberry compote, whip cream and maple syrup. Excellent. The compote just gave me a memoryof the best apple cider and it really made the dish!
My SO ordered the fried Eggs with sausage. Simple on paper except it came with lovely house made sausage patties, fried potatoes, roasted veggies and 3 of the most incredible chutneys. as a result it gave him the opportunity to have the same meal with a number of different flavours and he was genuinely impressed with everything.
The service was not speedy in any stretch but the food more than made up for it! I found our server to be polite and be enthusiastic about the menu. I had to admit I wished that there was a place like this here is TO. I must say we will be back!
We also made it to Benny's Bistro. Unfortuantely I didn't look carefully enough so I did not realize that they don't serve meals on Saturdays until 11. Ahh well. The croissant and jam was excellent and we ended up going back the next day to pick up some more croissants for the ride home.
I am just sorry that we didn't have more time! I had originally wanted to go to Sweetgrass but the timing didn't quite work out. If Domus is any indicator of the quality of food in the capital I look forward to future trips. Thank you again.
