Just wanted to give some props to the Brunch we had at Milagro on Mercer st. on the weekend. I have had issues with their regular menu in the past (very very hit and miss) but this is the first time we were there for brunch.
I ordered Chilaquiles in salsa verde and my wife ordered huevos mexicana. I am a big fan of chilaquiles having traveled the interior of Mexico several times. These were as good as any i've had - the chips were still a little crispy, the salsa was not too watery, and very flavorful. Very generous with the chicken and crema as well. My wife's eggs were also excellent - in particular the black beans were very rich and flavorful, not your typical refritos sitting but an integral part of the meal.
We ordered churros with cajeta and again the churros were excellent - crisp outside, nice and soft inside, and the cajeta was definitely goat milk.
The guacamole was correctly seasoned, and had the right amount of lime in it - just tangy enough.
We were there at 11:30 and it was empty, but the service was still quite slow (but friendly). Also the music kept getting extremely loud, as if the stereo was broken or something. That was very distracting.
Overall though I would definitely go back for brunch.
