Bratless in Sheboygan

If you read my earlier post I was asking for places to go to get great brats in Sheboygan. We were there this past weekend for a friend's wedding. The wedding was Saturday afternoon so we drove up late that morning. We didn't have time to stop for a brat before the wedding. We decided to save that for lunch on Sunday when we would have more time. On Sunday we headed for the Charcoal Inn on 8th and discovered it was closed! We were hoping that perhaps the one on Greele would be open. No such luck, it's also closed on Sundays! Fortunately we only live two hours south of Sheboygan so we'll have to go back another weekend to get our brat fix. We did manage to have a great lunch at another restaurant I would like to let everyone know about. The name is Nisleit's Country Inn in Port Washington, WI (a little south of Sheboygan). The location is I-43 and Hwy. H, Exit No. 100. The phone number is (262) 284-9006. We had their Sunday special which is all you can eat (four of my favorite words) chicken and ribs. The price was a very reasonable $8.25 and that included soup, cole slaw (can get a salad for a little bit extra), mashed potatoes, gravy, and corn. We had the baked French onion and cheesy potato soups. Both were excellent. The ribs were pretty good but the chicken was the best chicken I've ever had in my life! They referred to it as broasted and I never was sure what that meant. The waitress told me that it's similar to deep frying. She also confided that earlier in the day the chicken was a little on the dry side because they left it in the broaster too long. I guess we timed our visit right because the chicken was very tender and moist. The desserts looked very good but we were just too full to try any.
