Boston's Taiwan Cafe vs NYC Chinatown for soup dumplings

I found the dumplings at TC comparable to those at Joe's Shanghai in NYC. Both have a very fatty broth which I'm not particularly fond of. The meat filling was comparable at both places. Maybe a little better at JS. The dough wrapping at JS is fresher tasting, has better texture, and is a little smaller. My biggest complaint about the dumplings at TC is that they are just too big. I prefer dumplings that can be eaten in a bite or two. That was all I ordered at TC, so my experience was pretty focused. I was in NYC earlier this week and tried soup dumplings at all the places listed in this comparison.

I like the dumplings from Evergreen Shanghai (midtown NYC location) best. They are a good size, the filling and dough are just about right, and the broth is not fatty. The dumplings at Grand Sichuan on 9th ave and 24th were the most interesting, being smaller than usual, and filled with a beef broth. I highly recommend trying this place if you get down to NYC.
