I've just come back from the Blues and Chili Festival and along with the good music, there were 18 Gastown restaurants contending. Diamond, Alibi Room, Irish Heather and loads of names I've seen here offered up $1.00 samplers and 8 oz. cups for $3.00 - not bad in my book.
I tried Boneta's chicken and pork rib one with chipotle. I tried I-forget-who's three bison number, , with ground bison, pulled bison and a cubed version of same with beer and ancho chile and another less interesting one which I rushed to as it was the only one open after the thing began two hours earlier.
The chilis were whisked off to the judges and Deacons was declared the winner by one point.
Just a heads up if anybody is interested in blues and/or chili. It's the first year and they plan to do it next year.
