Went to blu last night and had a couple apps.

The appetizers were a crab in phyllo dough, and salt cod cakes. Both were well prepared, and you could tell the ingredients they used were fresh, but.... they had little taste. No flavor. It was like someone followed a recipe perfectly, but skipped over the part where you add seasonings.

"Blu" cheese martinis are a poor imitation of the West Side Lounge version. The olives themselves were good, but the drink was just vodka. They don't have the extra "secret" ingredient WSL has. (The ingredient is actually not a secret, but let them figure it out!)

Also had a "vanilla sidecar", where they have vanilla-infused cognac. Could be good, but they added to much stuff. They start right (cognac, cointreau, and fresh sour mix using lime), but they also added some OJ. Too sweet. Couldn't taste the vanilla at that point. Ironically, while they needed to add something to the blu cheese martini, they needed to take away something here (specifically, the OJ).
