So, I finally got to Peter Luger's. The porterhouse was even better than I had dreamed (drooled?) about. Simply stated, I've never had a tastier steak. Anywhere. Ever. All too often, experiences don't live up to the hype. Not so here. The shrimp were pretty impressive, too. And thanks to a recent thread on this board, I knew to order the pecan pie. Damn good stuff, although the crust could have been better. No matter. The surprise of the evening was the taste bud bliss I experienced when I thought to dip my soft onion roll into the puddle of butter on the porterhouse serving plate.
Imagine, porterhouse-juice infused butter, mopped up by a roll with the flavor of the freshest, most perfect onion bagel you've ever tasted, only less chewy.
Bliss, I tell you. Bliss.
Their steak sauce did nothing for me. They should really think about bottling their porterhouse-infused butter instead.
