Blackfin Update

We went back to BlackFin last night after a disastrous first visit which I posted about earlier. I had spoke to the op.’s manager directly last time and he had asked that I call him directly the next time we visited so make sure that "our dining experience was enjoyable." It was not. Again the food was delicious and well prepared but the service was choppy and he constantly forgot our drink orders and needed to be reminded. he also seemed like he really didn't know the place and often had to leave to get answer, etc. And like last time they ran out of a lot of things. There were 6 of us at 6:30 PM. They were out of 3 apps's. Out the 6 or so seafood entree's on the menu they were out of 3 of them including their signature dish. They were also out the filet mignon. They have now been open 6 weeks so they should be able to better manage the inventory. Or suck it up and pay retail. To be out of almost 30-40% of the offering so early in the evening?? It's not like we were there at 9pm.

Frankly, we started the night with cocktails at Tosca and we seriously almost went back there after the server had to read out the list of everything that not available. The other couples we were with were also local and I can tell you that it didn't matter how good the food tasted we will most likely never go back. When you are surrounded by places like Tosca and Saporito's why risk the night out if you are not sure what you are going to get. I am very disappointed as we really hoped our first visit was just due to the fact they had just opened but obviously Tony has a way to go before he can this operation running smoothly.
