Went for dinner Friday night for my 30th birthday. It was absolutely fantastic! Ill try to be brief
We had a table overlooking Rittenhouse square, room is beautiful, view was great. Hubby had the 5 course and I had the 3 course (its a tasting menu so the courses are small). I had the sweetbreads, salt cod, and lobster (capped off with crème brulee). Hubby had the foie gras, rabbit, duck, snapper, and one other thing that is escaping me (plus a desert that is also escaping me). Food was tremendous! Portions were small, but they are separated into 1st course, 2nd course, etc and they definitely increased in size as you went along. You could order from wherever you wanted (3 4th courses were fine if thats what you wanted).
Im having a hard time describing it, everything I had was so different and so amazing I was really floored. Service was impeccable. I usually frequent byobs (and still will) so I am not use to this level of attention to detail. Really amazing.
Hubby had told them it was my birthday, so when Chef Lacroix came around to greet everyone he had a birthday card for me . They also sent a special mini cake in the shape of a present that said happy birthday drizzled in chocolate, and took me and my husband on a tour of the kitchen and introduced us to all the other chefs, and gave me a mini box of Lacroix chocolates!
I had a really really wonderful time. It is not an every week occasion (bill was 225 + tip for 2 (including 2 bottles of wine hey it was my birthday )), but hands down I would recommend it for a VERY special birthday, anniversary or other event.
