Wrote wondering about this spot a couple of months back after Josh, one of the chef-servers at Minibar, informed us that many chefs have been eating there late at night. Fellow hounds didn't have much to say about the food -- the focus in the replies was on the health-code violations.

Finally got to try it this afternoon.

Ordered the spicy fried whole shrimp (taken from the billions of little creatures swimming around in the tank in back). Really, really compelling, even though I forgot to take the advice I was given, which was to ask them to cook the critters for *exactly* one minute.

Also ordered the shrimp dumpling soup. Not quite as luscious as at Full Kee (the broth, for one thing, was not as magical); but a perfectly fine rendition, and (Louise, take note) delicious bok choy stems floating around in the soup, a very nice green addition.

Next time, I'll try the recommended shrimp fried rice.

Any other sure-fire dishes there?
