Went to B&G early Saturday evening. The space is both interesting and appealing.
The food however is another matter. We ordered the fried oyster appetizer for $16. Sounded rather expensive and when it landed in front of us we realized it was! The six small to medium sized oysters sitting on their shells tasted ok, but for $16 one would have hoped for a larger portion.
We sat at the bar and were served by man whose middle name must be "upsell." We ordered four different types of oysters, two each for a total of eight. At $2.25 per oyster this apparently wasn't enough for our erstwhile server as he keep pushing us to order more.
Mr. Upsell finally gave up, but got his revenge when he poured my girlfried the Cava she ordered. This "pour" (or should it be poor?) was approximately one third of a small champagne flute. Eight dollars for such a tiny amount of wine, that is normally very inexpensive compared to other wines, was the crowning blow and we asked for our check and escaped.
