Berlin - Need Help with Restaurants

Susan56 | Feb 29, 2012 01:21 PM

My husband and I will be visiting Berlin for this first time in just about 3 weeks. We are looking for some help with restaurant suggestions. I have been reading posts on this board as well as looking in guidebooks and on zagat. but I am not sure that my choices are good ones.

We love fine dining - however while traveling we want to keep it more on the casual vs. "stuffy" or "formal" side. And we also don't want to spend a fortune on each meal. And while we do want to try German food; we do prefer our food to be lighter, perhaps more continental And while my husband does eat meat, I rarely do, preferring fish instead. We would also like to avoid touristy places. I think that means that we will not be eating dinner hear our hotel! we are staying at the Grand Hyatt (I managed to get the rooms for free!) and I know that is a touristy area. So, can you look at the list I have and let me know what you think? Are there some I should drop? Others I should add? I much appreciate any help I can get:

Horvath
Remake
Sale e Tabacchi
Hartmanns
Maxwell
Sage
Reinstoff
Bocca di Bacco
Aigner
Renger-Patzsch - this looks to be particularly good
Lutter & Wegner
Ottenthal
Leibnitz-Klause
Neubau
Noi Quattro
Bandol sur Mer

And I would also appreciate advice on a good time to have dinner. We are used to eating late - 8:30, 9:00, later. is that best? We would prefer to be at restaurants when they are bustling.

Thank you so much,
Susan
