Beaufort, SC; A Matter of Taste

Walking through Beaufort for the first time last week. Our route brought us to a cafe with "grand opening" banner in front. The six mile walk gave us an appetite and we headed in the door of A Matter of Taste. The hostess said they had previously been located at a plantation off the beaten track. This new cafe had only been open one week.
Very nicly decorated and most tables were filled. I tried the pecan chicken salad. The portion was just right. I was disappointed in the "fresh seasonal fruit" which was the accompaniment. Lots of green and red grapes, but only two thin slices of fresh pineapple and the same of orange. There was a large sliver of banana nut bread which was too moist and heavy on banana flavor...overripe banana was my guess.
However, there were fine tiny cranberry nut muffins for sharing.
My husband had wiener schnitzel which he raved about. There was yellow squash and potato as well.
The dessert selection was tempting and I almost gave in to amaretto creme brule.
Would most definitely go back to this cafe. It is located at 1001 Boundary Street, very near the Chamber of Commerce Visitor's Center.
