I get together with a group of friends about once a month for dinner. Usually out. The person responsible for planning our current gathering is floating the idea of Bayport Cookery, and asking for opinions.
All I know about Bayport Cookery is that I went there back in the twentieth century. Like, the very late eighties.
At that time, they were doing themed prix-fixes. Garlic night, chocolate night, and so on. The waiter described each dish in excruciating, tedious detail. That has never been a Good Sign for me. The chow on garlic night was nothing terribly memorable, and for two ailophiles (is that even a word?), it peaked with the head of roasted garlic that came out with the bread basket.
There was a table of two women, squealing and wriggling almost indecently over this stuff. My sweetie watched this for a bit. Then she leaned towards me and muttered ''I think that they have a different menu; d'you think that we could order from theirs?'
Never been back. But that was looongg ago. Could well be that that period is behind them, now. What is the current hound thinking on this joint? I have tracked down their website, too.
And do I correctly hear that they have das fireplace und der cocktails?
