It's been mentioned on another thread but I think it's a big enough deal to warrant its own.
As mentioned, complete rehab and expansion. They went to great lengths and were very successful in keeping the same feel to the place. If you were blindfolded and led in you would say "Bayou Kitchen" only... nicer. My fear along with others was that they might ruin the place - they managed to make it better while keeping its charm.
The expansion goes all the way to Forest Ave but the door on that side will be used as an emergency exit only - a screen door will provide a cross breeze.
My first breakfast of biscuits and gravy with eggs and home fries hit the spot. I won't have to eat again until dinner. As good as ever.
Everyone in the place - employees and customers alike were simply psyched to be back.
Best of all for me is the large, modern, clean, restroom on the main level. I will now be able to get my wife back in - she has a thing about basements.
A home run. Welcome back.
