I am desperately craving a chocolatine/pain au chocolat and have yet to find one in l.a. that is in any way, shape, or form comparable to those served in the sf bay area or france, haha. I don't like them in the crescent shape, but rather the rectangular block form; Flaky, yet moist with buttery layers of goodness and a thin strip of fine chocolate (no toll house chocolate chips!)
I'd also like for the price to be reasonable -- nothing more than $2.50, unless someone can prove that hands blessed by saints and angels rolled the dough.
Also, any recommendations for chocolate? Are there any cafes that specialize in chocolate; truffles, hot chocolate, chocolate cake, etc..? I guess something like Leonidas, but not as sterile and cold.
