Several months ago I posted a request for a suggestion for a wedding dinner near the Kahala Resort in Honolulu. After looking at the board's responses I selected 3660 on the Rise in nearby Kaimuki.
The party was a great success. The food was spectacular, the room lovely and overall I was very impressed with quality of the operation. The seared Ahi was one of the best if not THE best I have had in MANY years of eating that dish.
Unfortunately, when we arrived en masse in the limos at the appointed time, there was no one to greet us. The girl at the desk had to be approached and asked where we should go. Her unenthusiastic response was..."down the hall, first door on your left." We were left to find our way on our own....not a very cordial greeting.
Once in the room the cocktail ordering procedure was adequate if a bit slow. A few more waiters would have sped the process along. After that, the service was excellent and the pupu's superb. The panko crusted scallops and the kailua pork egg rolls were both amazing.
The braised shortribs were heavenly and the sauce on the chicken was exquisite. The bread was made from taro and was delicious. The mashed potatoes were as light as clouds. Certainly the best banquet meal in memory. Tab ran about $70 per person for food, liquor, wine and tip.
Darren, the banquet manager was helpful and efficient.
Overall, highly recommended.
