I stopped by for lunch on Wednesday. $20 buys any two items on the extensive lunch menu. I went for the quail and watercress salad along with the lamb.
The quail, served seperately from the salad though on the same plate, is gently smoked. Very good flavor. The accompying salad is served with a hazelnut oil dressing. The texture of the leaves worked well with the lighter density of the dressing. Exquisite (and I'm not a big salad fan).
My particular piece of a rack of lamb was a bit too fatty for my taste. A perfectly harmonizing relish of perhaps 5 parts minced cucumber and 1 part minced fresh mint left an impression on me. It is one of ideas that can be easily replicated at home....and trust me, I will.
Outside of the $20 package, I had the banana cake with caramel ice cream. Although the flavors were good, there was nothing innovative about it. A solid dessert and nothing more.
I definitely recommend the lunch at Bank. The room was packed on this particular afternoon. I guess word has spread. As you can tell, I was happy with the cuisine. The service was a bit amateurish, but not so much to be a distraction. The decor is very nice. One of the better rooms to dine in here in Houston.
