First, thanks to everyone who suggested their favorites at Balthazar. We had a nice time.
First, we were 30 mins. late for reservations, so it was no surprise that when we arrived we had to wait at the bar. But by the time the drink were ready, we were seated, so no biggie..
I opted for the Daurade appetizer, a mix of salt cod and mashed potatoes.. Really good, but really filling.. For dinner, I ordered the goat cheese tart appetizer.. Amazing.. I'd return and eat that everyday I loved it so much. Wow.
Husband had the Balthazar salad, which he really enjoyed. And the Steak Au Poivre, which looked and tasted great..
Way too stuffed for dessert, but my neighbors' tart tain was quickly devoured..
Overall, great dinner. My only gripe was that the Service was only perfunctory. Our server was so harried the only words he spoke to us were "Bottled or tap water?" and sped off. But I really enjoyed the brasserie atmosphere..
I'm already contemplating what bistro to hit next?
