Baking with Yogurt

In a regular baking recipe for muffins or breads (like banana or pumpkin) how do I use yogurt? I know yogurt can be substituted for oil and sometimes eggs or baking powder, but is there a general rule for how to use yogurt as a substitute. I'm especially interested in knowing what yogurt is a best substitute for in such recipes and what the measurements for such a substitution might be.
