Bakery for birthday cake St Paul

We need a birthday cake for our daughter who's turning two in a couple of weeks. This is the cake for the party with a bunch of kids and their parents and other assorted grown-up friends & family (I'm making the cake for our immediate family celebration...all three of us). Probably 10-15 people max.

I'd like it to be tasty, made of quality ingredients. I think this means that grocery store sheet cakes are out of the question; let me know if I'm totally wrong on that front -we don't shop at the larger grocery stores in general so I could be misguided. Maybe they have great bakeries. But it would fit more with our ethos as a family to get her cake at a locally owned, independent bakery. I'd also prefer that the bakery be in St Paul so I don't have to trek all over the metro for it.

I just don't know which bakery...we don't tend to get cake at bakeries. I know Sweets does cakes but I've only ever had their cupcakes (and I don't want to do a bunch of cupcakes this time). Anyone had their cake? Are the incredibly beautiful decorations on their cakes correlated with less-than-yummy insides (like with many wedding cakes?). Other bakeries whose cake you love and who customize cakes? Jerabek's?

Note: we do not need the marketable character type of cake, daughter is too young to know any really. Her parents would prefer something more creative or pretty or like that.

Thanks!
