About once a month, my husband takes the trip from center city to the northeast for his "lox run." This is to Famous, formerly of Krewstown Road, now on Grant Avenue.
This past week he added a stop. He went up to County Line Road, just off of 2nd Street Pike, to the new Brooklyn Bagel place.
This is no relation to the Brooklyn bagels we have had in Phillly.
The owner is a young man from Brooklyn who says he makes his bagels the real New York way.
We liked these bagels very much. They are large, with a soft inside and a nice crisp crust. We freeze our bagels and toast them as needed, so the outside does get crisp. I thought there was a slight sweetness to the dough, which I enjoyed.
We are hooked on Wegmans' bagels, and make the short trip to NJ for them, but we definitely would buy more of these new Brooklyn ones if we are in the neighborhood.
